A brow lift is a surgical procedure that raises the brows and improves the appearance of wrinkles in the upper face. The brow lift removes sagging, excess skin along the brows and tightens the tissues of the brow and forehead area to restore a more youthful appearance.

Benefits

The benefits of a brow lift include:

A More Youthful Eye Appearance

Excess skin along the brows can cause the eyes to look angry, tired, or aged. Brow lift surgery removes excess, sagging brow skin to create a more alert and youthful eye appearance.

Reduced Forehead Wrinkles

Forehead lines and wrinkles can lead to a more aged appearance. Brow lift surgery tightens the skin to smooth out these wrinkles above and along the brow line.

Reduced Frown Lines

Frown lines are vertical furrows between the eyebrows. Brow lift surgery eliminates frown lines to create a softer, more relaxed, and more pleasant facial appearance.

Eliminate Vision Impairment

In some individuals, excess skin along the brow impairs vision. Lifting and tightening the brows removes the overhang that interferes with vision.

Ideal Candidates

Ideal candidates for a brow lift will meet the following criteria:

  • Overall good health
  • Non-smoking
  • Realistic expectations about the results
  • Moderate to severe forehead wrinkles and frown lines
  • Sagging brows that may interfere with vision sightlines
  • Severe wrinkles that create an angry, sad, or tired appearance
  • A desire to look more youthful

Brow Lift Options

There are two main types of brow lifts: classic and endoscopic.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

The endoscopic brow lift uses an endoscope, which is a thin tube with a tiny camera and light attached to it. The endoscope allows Mr Gwanmesia to view and adjust the tissues and facial structures with only small incisions that are hidden within the hairline. The endoscopic brow lift has a quick recovery time but does not efficiently remove excess skin.

Classic Brow Lift

For the classic brow lift, Mr Gwanmesia will make an incision along or within the hairline to provide access to the underlying facial tissues. Excess skin and fat may be removed, and the brow and forehead will be tightened and lifted to improve their placement and appearance. Patients may experience some numbness behind the incision for as many as nine to twelve months.

Brow Lift FAQ

Place your fingers gently along your brows and lift them to a more favourable position. If doing this also lifts most of your upper eyelid tissues, you probably need a brow lift. If excess skin remains on the upper eyelid, you may need eyelid surgery instead of or in addition to a brow lift. Mr Gwanmesia will determine which procedure is best for you when you come in for your consultation.

Brow lift surgery can be combined with facelift surgery, eyelid surgery, and injectable facial fillers to rejuvenate the face.

When you meet with Mr Gwanmesia, he will evaluate your anatomy and your goals to determine the amount of correction needed. This information along with other related factors will determine which technique is best for you.

Patients may experience some pain and numbness for several days after surgery. While numbness at the incision sites may persist, patients are usually able to resume work one week after surgery. Avoid exercise for several weeks, and follow Mr Gwanmesia’s exact instructions to ensure a positive recovery experience.

Results from brow lift surgery are long lasting. Most patients who undergo this procedure will likely not need to undergo it again in the future. Nonetheless, the face will still continue to age normally after surgery.
